SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

In order to apply, candidates must satisfy all the eligibility requirements indicated in the Scholarships Handbook. Additionally, Latin American applicants must satisfy the specific requirements and provide the supporting documents mentioned in the Country Profile.

Country Profile

You can see the list of required documents mentioned in the Scholarship Handbook (pages 10 - 12) and the Country Profile below. It is necessary to attach these documents to your application when you send it for it to be accepted. These supporting documents must be uploaded to the OASIS system in one of the following formats: .doc, rtf, .pdf, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, .tiff, .png, .bmp, .txt. The maximum size per file is of 2MB.

Documents that require official certification and professional translation to English (when the document has not been originally issued in English)

Undergraduate degree graduation certificates or diplomas.

Documents that do NOT require any type of certification but DO require a professional translation to English (when the document has not been originally issued in English)

Student Academic Ranking: Document issued by the university which certifies the position or place in which the Student graduated from his or her undergraduate program (or postgraduate program, if applicable).

Note: If the institution does not issue this document, an official letter, issued by the institution, where it is stipulated that such a document is not issued must be provided.

Work Experience: A letter or certificate issued by the relevant employer which certifies that the applicant has relevant and demonstrable work experience in one or more of the five priority sectors described in this document. If the letter or certificate cannot be written in English, please provide a professional translation. Note: If the referees (see point 8 below) can certify the applicant’s work experience, a separate letter is not necessary. Alternatively, the referee reports can also provide this information.

Optional Documents: The applicant may provide a range of other documents that she or he considers will support the application. These may include letter of support from current employer(s); copies of other academic degrees; volunteer work certificates and or development work; participation in congresses, conferences and/or workshops. If these documents were not issued in English, please provide a professional translation.

Proof of Citizenship: bio-data page of valid passport with the corresponding photograph, national identity document, or birth certificate.
7.
English language test (IELTS or TOEFL) results certificate: Demonstrate knowledge of the English language with the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Academic test, with a minimum overall score of 6.0 and not scoring less than 5.5 in any of the tests by areas: writing, listening, speaking and reading; or its equivalent in the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test. It is a requirement to attach your TOEFL or IELTS test results to your application.

Note: The IELTS test must be Academic.
The TOEFL test must be the Internet Based Test (IBT). The institutional type (ITP) is NOT valid.

Note: The receipt for the test is not sufficient; the actual results need to be included as part of your application.

We will accept a screenshot of the results of your TOEFL or IELTS from the official website if you have not received the physical certificate by 30 April 2013. These results are available approximately two to three weeks after sitting the exam.

Please note: You need to capture all of the details of the exam in the screenshot including the exam date, registration number, name, results, etc.

Important: The English test must be valid until 1 January, 2014. The results are normally valid for two years, so the test date cannot be prior to 1 January, 2012.

Two Referee Reports: Applicants to a Masters by coursework must provide one academic referee report and one work referee report. Applicants for Masters by Research or PhD must provide two academic referee reports plus one work referee report.

Referee Reports must be written in English using the format available here: Referee Report.

Note: Only if the person that fills out the referee report is unfamiliar with the English language will the referee reports be accepted in Spanish, and only if a professional translation is also provided.
9.
Brief Curriculum Vitae: Summary of the applicant's curriculum vitae with relevant information for the application. Must be in English, with a maximum length of two (2) pages.
10.
Course descriptions: You must provide a description of the two courses of your preference in a Word document. This description must be brief, in English and downloaded from the university's website.

Note: Applications that include a description for only one preference will not be considered.

Documents required only if your application is for a research grade (Masters by Research or PhD)

Publication list: Publications with details of where and when they were published. You can also provide abstracts of the publications. Research thesis is also considered a publication.
12.
Initial contact with supervisor, for at least the first preference: Proof in English that demonstrates that the applicant has made initial contact with a possible supervisor in the institution or institutions of his or her preference, and that the supervisor is available to supervise the candidate on the specific chosen topic. (For example, an email copy or a letter from the faculty).
It is not necessary for the applicant to have already been accepted in an Australian academic institution at the time of application. This is a process carried out internally, once the candidate has been selected.
Documents certification and translation definition
For the certification and translation of documents for this application, we have defined the following specifications:

Official Certification:
The type of official certification required depends on the country where the candidate obtained his or her degree.

For degrees and certificates obtained in member countries of the International Apostille Convention, Apostille certification is required. For more information about the Apostille convention, click here.

The member countries participating for the AusAID Australia Awards Scholarships for Latin America are: Argentina, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

For degrees and certificates of non-member countries of the International Apostille Convention that do not hold this benefit,, candidates must submit their documents with certifications from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (both ministries).

The non-member countries participating for the AusAID Australia Awards Scholarships for Latin America are: Bolivia, Chile, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Paraguay.

Professional Translation:

Translations must be done by a professional accredited translator in your country or by a Qualified Education Agent Counsellor (QEAC). For a list of QEAC Counsellors, visit http://eatc.pieronline.org/qeac


INFORMATION OFFICIAL CERIFICATION FOR APPLICANTS FROM GUATEMALA AND NICARAGUA:

We would like to inform that the process to certify (Official Certification) the following documents issued in Guatemala or Nicaragua:
Undergraduate degree graduation certificates or diplomas.
Academic Transcript of undergraduate degree.

In Guatemala must be made by: the University Secretary in Guatemala and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Guatemala. The Ministry of Education in Guatemala does NOT certify university degrees.

In Nicaragua must be made by: the Secretaria del Consejo Nacional de Universidades (CNU) and by the Ministery of Foreign Affairs of Nicaragua.


Note: All the information provided by the applicant in the application process must be accurate and true. AusAID has a zero tolerance policy towards false or incorrect documentation and information submitting.
Any altered or misleading information; be it the falsification and/or alteration of the academic record, falsification and/or alteration of the English language test results or an illegitimate declaration concerning your academic history or record, is considered by AusAID as fraud and therefore must be immediately informed to AusAID's Fraud Control Director in order to take the necessary measures and incur in the corresponding sanction, which could be legal action and the cancelation of the awarded scholarship.
Falsification and/or alteration of the documents in the information presented for the application is a serious criminal offense under the Criminal Code Act 1995 of the Commonwealth of Australia.
