ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS



Eligible applicants must be Australian organizations, able to demonstrate on-going linkages with counterpart overseas organizations. Australian organizations must be legal entities with an Australian Business Number (ABN). Examples are.

Australian Government Departments (Federal, State/Territory and local), government agencies, statutory authorities, and Government Business Enterprises.
Australian organizations or institutions – research centres, higher education providers, vocational educational and training providers, peak bodies, Australian chambers of commerce, community groups. NGOS, media, professionals associations.
Australian businesses are also welcome to apply, however proposals must not provide, or aim to provide, a direct commercial benefit to any Australian or partner country company or consortium.

ELIGIBILITY OF FELLOWS

Fellowships target senior officials and mid-career professionals, who in the short to medium term will be in a position to advance key regional policy objectives, and increase the institutional capacity of developing countries.

To be eligible, all Fellows nominated by Australian organisations must:

Not have Australian permanent residence status, or be applying for permanent residency.
Be a citizen of, and reside in, a Fellowships-eligible country.
Have been working in their country of citizenship, in areas relevant to their proposed training in Australia, preceding the date of the proposed commencement of their Fellowship.
Have their nomination supported and certified by their country organisation or institution through a “Letter of Support” demonstrating their strong linkages with the Australian organisation.
Present a “Return to Work Plan” demonstrating their potential to assume leadership roles, and influence policy reform and development outcomes when they return to their organisation and country.
Be able to take up the nominated Fellowship activities at the time, and for the duration, proposed by the Australian organisation.

Australian organisations are responsible for ensuring that Fellows have an adequate level of English language ability. If not they must implement appropriate supplementary measures to maximise the all-around benefits from Fellowship activities.


Note: All Fellows will need to satisfy Australian Government visa requirements for entry to Australia.
