Australia Awards Fellowships is a highly flexible program. Program duration ranges from 2 weeks to 52 weeks. The number of Fellows can range from 1 to 25. The activities might include a work attachment, supervised research, a management leadership course, a study tour, program meetings and visits, or a combination of these.
The Australian organization must have a counterpart relationship which can benefit and be strengthened by the program. The Fellows are identified and nominated by the Australian organization in collaboration with the overseas counterpart organization. Upon nomination, the Australian organization and its overseas counterpart design and manage a program to meet the nominated Fellow needs.
Budgets are a very important part of any submission. An accurate and detailed budget must accompany all applications submitted by the Australian counterpart. Financial Co-contributions should be encouraged to be done by the Latin-American counterpart as they are evidence of commitment on both sides.
Expenses
A maximum of AUD$ 35,000 per Fellow is available for:
Economy airfare from/to home country’s international hub.
In-Australia transport related to approved activities.
Short course/tuition/training course cost.
Accommodation and living expenses.
Medical insurance cost when in Australia.
Special assistance/equipment to support people with disabilities.
Program overhead fees.
WHAT FELLOWSHIPS WILL NOT FUND
The Fellowships Program will not fund proposal scoping and design exercises as Australian organisations are expected to have strong, pre-existing links with their overseas counterpart organisations.
Proposals must not provide, or aim to provide, a direct commercial benefit to any Australian or partner country company or consortium.
The counterpart organisation cannot be an international arm or branch of the Australian organisation. If unsure whether this applies to your submission please seek clarification from the Australia Government prior to submitting your application.
Fellowship activities focusing on English language-training are not eligible for funding.
Fellowship activities that have already commenced prior to awarding the Fellowships grant are ineligible for funding.
Funding is only for in-Australia activities and does not support pre-departure or post fellowship activities. However Australian organizations, or counterpart organizations, may count these costs as part of their co-contribution.
