The Government of Australia has sponsored 17 different Programs, and awarded 73 Fellowships to Latin American candidates since 2010.
Funding of up to $35,000 AUD per Fellow is available to selected Australian organizations for in-Australia fellowship activities.
Only Australian organizations may apply for funding under the program.
Counterpart organizations and individual fellows must be sponsored by an Australian organization and may not apply directly for funding.
They may however, initiate contact with their Australian counterpart to indicate their interest in applying for Fellowship funding. Note that this is the first and most important step which should be taken by an interested party, as it is the perfect time to establish priorities and objectives to be further developed through the Fellowship. This process is carried out in conjunction with the Australian counterpart. It is the Australian counterpart, who then completes and submits the application to the Australian Government.
The latest application period will open on May 13, 2013, and will close on June 19, 2013 (05:00 p.m. Australian Eastern Standard Time (EAST)).
The next application round date is to be confirm.
ELIGIBLE ACTIVITIES
Activities fall into two major categories:
Professional Attachment Fellowships:
Emphasis is placed on intensive management training; peer-to peer learning; short term training; knowledge sharing; twinning; professional attachments; leadership; and/or executive management training.
Academic Fellowships:
Specialised research; seminars; short intensive professional programs; and skills development. Academic Fellowship programs must include activities beyond academic study to enhance the Fellow’s professional experience, and provide networking opportunities. These could include site visits, seminars, and work placements.
Programs may be bilateral or multilateral:
Bilateral
Involving Fellows(s) in counterpart organizations(s) from one overseas country only.
Multilateral
Fellows coming from a number of counterpart organizations and countries in the region to work on a common issue.
In both cases, Australian organizations need to work closely with their overseas counterpart(s) in developing the Fellowship application. The Australian organisations should devote sufficient resources to plan Fellowship activities, and work cooperatively with their counterpart organisations to agree on joint objectives.
