Dr Terry Cutler has a background in the information and communications technology sector.

He has authored numerous influential reports and papers on technology policy, regulation and innovation.

During 2008 he chaired the Australian Government's Review of the National Innovation System which culminated in the Report, Venturous Australia.

Dr Cutler also served on the CSIRO Board from 2002-12, latterly as Deputy Chairman.
Dr Cutler is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Australian Academy of the Humanities, and the Australian Institute of Public Administration.
In 2002 he was awarded an honorary doctorate by Queensland University of Technology and in 2003 was awarded Australia's Centenary Medal.
