Luis Cespedes
Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism

Luis Felipe Cespedes is the Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism of the Republic of Chile. He holds a PhD in Economics from New York University having completed his Economics degree at the Catholic University of Chile.

In the public arena, he was coordinator of economic policy and chief economic advisor in the Ministry of Finance. At the Chilean Central Bank, Mr Céspedes served as Manager of Economic Research and was part of the Technical Board of Investment, which oversees the investment regimes of pension and unemployment funds.

Mr. Cespedes has worked as an economic researcher at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Inter-American Development Bank and Rutgers University; and has lectured at Chile’s Catholic University and University of Adolfo Ibáñez. He has published research in prestigious international journals as well as analysis and commentary on economic subjects in the Chilean press. He has edited two books, as well as the academic journal The Chilean Economy (Economía Chilena).
