Joaquín Villarino is the President of the Chilean Mining Council AG. This organization represents the largest mining companies that produce copper, gold, silver and molybdenum in Chile.
Mr. Villarino is currently member of the board of Salfacorp, the largest industrial construction company in Chile. He is also member of the Comisión de Energía 2050 and the Comisión de Minería Sustentable of Chile. He participates in the OCDE Multi-Stakeholder Consultation for the Policy Dialogue on Natural Resource-Based Development and in the International Council of Minerals and Mining (ICMM). He is a member of the Consultant Council of the Centro de Estudios Públicos and the Patrimonio Cultural Foundation.
Previously he was President of Aguas Andinas S.A., and member of the board of other companies of the Agbar Group in Chile, Argentina and Uruguay. He was the Regional Manager of the Agbar Group in Latin America and also member of the executive committee of Agbar in Barcelona, Spain. Likewise he was member of the board of Compañía Chilena de Navegación Interoceánica and member of the Sociedad de Fomento Fabril council.
He is a frequent speaker in Chile, Latin America and China on mining, energy and natural resources topics.
He is commercial law professor at the Law Faculty of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Mr. Villarino holds a law degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Ph.D. in law from Universidad de Navarra Spain.
